PJCA invites you to come enjoy Lori Strelecki share the amazing story of renowned local artist John Newton Howitt (1885-1958). If you are unfamiliar with Howitt this link has a wonderful biography of this very talented fine artist whose work ran the gamut of landscapes; fine art advertisements and magazine covers; and thriller pulp magazine covers.
Lori Strelecki has been the Museum Director of the Pike County Historical Society and Museum for 17 years. In her time there she has explored the history of many of the people, places and things which make up our area’s rich history. While she does not consider herself a historian or expert on any given topic, she is happy to share her findings and musings regarding many subjects with credit to the vast archives, libraries, holdings and collections of The Columns Museum.
Many other activities will take place that day, at the open house celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Grange Movement, in Deerpark’s Neversink Valley Grange #1530, which is being renovated by the town and The Friends of the Grange. Building circa 1934.
